Catsfield
WI Meeting: The next meeting of Catsfield WI will be held in the Village Hall next Thursday 2nd July at 2.30pm when the speaker will be Sian Trevellian talking about ‘The Life of Catherine Cookson’. Visitors and new members are always welcome at the meetings – come and try our delicious homemade teas!
Boot Sale: There were about thirty ‘Car Booters’ present and about three hundred buyers/browsers at this popular annual event on the Playing Field. The weather stayed fine and everyone seemed to have a really good time. The ladies selling refreshments from the pavilion were kept busy selling hot dogs, bacon rolls, tea and coffee and Anita helped by Thelma, Pip and Linda ran a stall for the church. The grand total for the whole event was an amazing £637.11, helping to raise funds for the parish church of St Laurence. The next fund-raiser will be in September and details will be announced soon.

Hide AdSport: Following on from the boot sale, the Playing Field continues to be very well used with Catsfield’s match versus Brightling Park switched to a home fixture last Sunday, which we won. Brightling Park were put into bat reaching 133 for 9 at tea, the fielding was good and unlike the English ODI team, all our catches were held. Andy Williams got 5 wickets for 27, Connor Earl 2 for 38, Nick Gurr 1 for 19 and James Wilson 1 for 14. Our batsman did well with Derek Fuller 72 and David Taylor 29 not out and Tim Pitman 28 not out, finishing with 136 for 1. A very satisfactory result.
On Sunday we play Crowhurst away, but the following Friday 3rd July the Playing Field hosts the school sports followed by the traditional cricket match of the school versus the village. Do go along and watch, it is always great fun. On Saturday 4th July Bexhill are again using our pitch and on Sunday 5th we will play Netherfield at home.
