MPs pay tribute to Baroness Thatcher
Bognor Regis and Littlehampton MP Nick Gibb said: “Baroness Thatcher, as Prime Minister of our country for 11 years, rescued Britain from economic decline, conquered the inflation that had destroyed the savings and pensions of a generation and restored the ability of people to establish and run successful businesses.
“Margaret Thatcher’s inspirational leadership re-established Britain’s confidence as a nation and transformed our standing in the world. We all owe her a huge debt of gratitude for her strength and courage.”

Hide AdSir Peter Bottomley, MP for Worthing West, which includes Rustington and East Preston, said: “History will rightly credit her with restoring Britain in the world and with replacing state controlled industries with high investing.
“From 1975, as she became leader, she led the by-election successes that made Labour govern as a minority, sustained by the Liberals.
“From 1979, she gave unions back to members and reduced the improper impact of some union activity. She encouraged enterprise.
“In June 1975, as newly-elected Conservative leader, she came to help win the Labour Woolwich West constituency and to make me an MP.”
Arundel and South Downs MP Nick Herbert tweeted: “Britain was on its knees in the 1970s. Mrs Thatcher saved the country. She was incomparable.”
