Newhaven coastguard rescue injured man from cliff face

The coastguard were called to the Rushy Hill Caravan Park at around 8:45pm after a police helicopter spotted a injured man part way down a steep slope on the cliff, near a vertical drop of approximately 250 feet.
A coastguard team member was lowered from the top of the cliffs down to the position of the man, who was placed in a rescue harness and winched to the cliff top.

Hide AdAfter treatment from the coastguard he was handed to ambulance crew and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Newhaven lifeboat were also called to scene and stood-by in case medical assitance was needed at the foot of the cliff.
The lifeboat’s crew then returned to station at 9:25pm.
