‘Thanks to local papers during unprecedented nightmare’
Over the past few unnerving weeks I’ve been really impressed by the way the local papers have adjusted to meet the needs of an unprecedented nightmare we want to wake up from, but can’t.
Informative and up-to-date; reassuring and homely – it’s a delicate balance even in ‘normal’ times, let alone in an ongoing crisis under extreme difficulty. I’ve been really taken with the scope and resourcefulness, from the very clear instructions and praise for all vital workers, volunteers and individual and community actions, to pictures from Sussex under curfew and the peaceful countryside – not to mention puzzles and items to interest and educate your children.

I think the press has done us proud and played a very important role in getting through a pretty unbearable time.
