Hide AdTraffic was initially said to be coping well but the road was later reported as blocked, after the accident on A27 westbound from A259 Cathedral Way (Fishbourne Roundabout) to Emsworth Services.
Traffic was reportedly stationary in the area, with the road blocked to allow for the recovery of a vehicle, which ‘left the carriageway’.
Severe and increasing delays of 18 minutes were reported between Chichester and Havant, with an average speed of ten mph.
The vehicle was recovered and the road reopened by 12.30pm.
