A24 Broadwater Road was partially blocked northbound, around 4pm, resulting in heavy traffic.
It followed a collision involving a Royal Mail van and a mobility scooter at the junction of Broadwater Road and Langton Road.
Sussex Police said a woman in her 70s was treated by the ambulance service’ for a minor injury’.
South East Coast Ambulance Service confirmed crews were called shortly after 4pm to ‘reports of a road traffic collision’.
A spokesperson added: “One person was assessed and treated before being taken to Worthing Hospital for further medical treatment.”
As of 6.30pm, the road had been cleared, with traffic running as normal.
