Hide AdBrighton were understood to have made a £3million bid for the 22-year-old, but Pompey boss Kenny Jackett confirmed this week that negotiations were ongoing over the fee.
He said: “We’ve got to consider every angle – obviously our team, the club, the player as well and what his feelings are.”
The transfer now seems a formality, with Pompey comfortable with Clarke carrying out his medical with the Seagulls.
